 Golf Tour Review 2019

Every year, a full Golf Tour review 2019 is critical to our service that we offer at Concierge Golf.  Furthermore, we can refine such services from the customer feedback gathered directly and indirectly over the year. The following is a brief recap of the best of the best Golf courses and Hotels that are chosen by Concierge Golf’s travellers for 2019.

A summary of preferred golf courses & hotels for Ireland  2019

It is not at all surprising that Golfers enjoyed golfing at Royal County Down, Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portmarnock Golf, Old Head Golf Links, Lahinch Golf Club, Tralee Golf Club, and Waterville Golf Links.

The most popular Hotels used for 2019 was The Europe Hotel and The Plaza Hotel in Killarney. The Merrion Hotel was top of the listing for Dublin. Whereas, Adare Manor Golf Resort and Trump Doonbeg Golf Resort were the favourite Golf resorts. Also, Doonbeg and Adare Manor were the preferred hotel locations used for Golf Helicopters Tours around Ireland.

A summary of preferred golf courses & hotels for Scotland 2019

Not surprisingly, The Turnberry Ailsa Course, Troon Golf Club, and Muirfield Golf Club topped the list. Also, Kingsbarns Golf Links, The Old Course, Carnoustie, Royal Dornoch Golf Club and Castle Stuart Golf Links. It’s not to say that Golfers did not want to play the Old Course! The main problem was gaining access to tee times on the Old Course. The disappointment of not booking in time and missing out on guaranteed tee times was the main reason that the Old Course did not top the list.

The Scottish hotels that were enjoyed the most were the Old Course Hotel St Andrews and the Trump Turnberry Golf Resort. In Edinburgh City, the Balmoral and the Sheraton topped the list. Also, Links House in Dornoch was preferred.

A note on Irish Airports

Mainly most of our Golfers travelled using Dublin Airport for both arriving and departing from Ireland. Notably, there are several reasons for using Dublin Airport.

  • Currently, there is good access for the Golfer’s preferred airlines such as Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Delta, American Airlines and United Airlines for flights in and out of the USA, Canada, London and Edinburgh.
  • Most groups preferred to start or finish their Irish Golf Tour with a couple of nights enjoying Dublin City.
  • Also, our Golfers used Dublin Airport’s Platinum services. Essentially, Platinum services offers a quick customs clearance service on arrival.  The customs clearance service ensures a speedy service to collecting the traveller’s luggage on arrival and a fast exit into Ireland. Please, consider this service if your group has a tight tee time to make!

Part of the Golf Tour review 2019 is that we recommend using Shannon Airport for Golfers that are playing Golf in the Southwest of Ireland. Also, consider using Cork Airport via London Heathrow for Golfers that are starting or finishing Golf Trip to Ireland at Old Head Golf Links.

Transport

Mainly, most groups preferred to travel by a chauffeured coach rather than self-driving a car. However, to compare Golfers on an Irish Golf and Sightseeing Tour.

The majority of our Golfers loved the chauffeured driven car service option. But, the Golfers that wanted to golf and sightsee as much as possible preferred the self-driving option. Essentially, we find that golfers on a golf and sightseeing tour, play golf early morning and sightsee for the rest of the day.

The golfers that used a helicopter to travel around Ireland were typical for groups of 4 or 8. There was a mixed bag were some groups added a one-leg trip or a return trip to Royal County Down or Royal Portrush. An example of the one-leg trip is from Waterville to Old Head, or from Ballybunion Golf Club to Old Head Golf Links.

Overall we saw an increase in Irish Golf Helicopter travel and we see this as a trend into 2020. If you are considering using Helicopters as part of your upcoming
